Living Libraries
Imagine going to your local library and instead of borrowing a book on a particular subject, you borrowed a real person to talk about their first-hand experiences with the topic! This is the concept behind a Living Library, a novel form of storytelling and community based education started in Denmark in 2000.
During the annual mental health week the Mental Health Commission of WA assists community organisations to hold their own Living Libraries. As part of this assistance Black Cyclone produced an educational interactive DVD that detailed tips, procedures, and examples of how to run a successful Living Library in local community centres.
